SITEL APPLICATION AND INTERVIEW TIPS
----===-------===--------===------------=====------------=====-------------================-------
DISCLAIMER:
This article
neither fully describe nor cover all SITEL branches or companies,
Furthermore, the article might not be literally presented or observed on some
other branches. Hence, this would only serve as your references or a preview on
what is happening or would happen inside a SITEL recruitment center especially
at Baguio when you are going to apply. As for my credibility, i am not an
employee at SITEL but i experienced firsthand how to apply at SITEL (SITEL
recruitment center BAGUIO). Well, i was lucky to pass the two trials with just
one try but unluckily i didn't pass the final interview because i was caught
technically in my answers and due to my ACCENT and PRONUNCIATION. (oh my, I
admit it , I was just trying to have a job that’s why. wahaha )
NOTE: This only covers the application
proper inside SiTEL recruitment site at Baguio. Try to observe some tips and
hints to pass these initial interviews.
--------===---------------============-------------=============------------==============---
Okay let’s start, you might have stumbled
on this page for two main reasons, either you are looking for a job or you want
to apply at SiTEL and are looking for some tips to pass the
interview/application process.
At SiTEL (Sitel baguio-SM cyber to be specific) when i got there to apply, there
were mainly six steps to follow (this might be changed, scrambled at any time
or vary depending on your location) which would take a day or two. Luckily for
me it only took a day, I started 12:45 pm and finished it in 18:30 hours (6:30
pm). And for your information when applying at SITEL bring with you some foods
to eat since you will surely feel your stomach shouting while waiting for your
turn.
1. Securing form at the booth or reception area.
The first step was to go at the booth and
secure a form wherein you need to fill information such as your name, college
you/'re graduated/studying, degree and major, what days you want to work like
from Monday to Sunday, are you willing to work in a shifting schedule, work
during holidays, weekends, and or graveyard schedules. If you are referred by
someone who is an employee of SiTEL, you might as well ask for their account
and I.D. number.
Lastly, if you have any of these SSS, TIN,
PhilHealth numbers, get them all so you wouldn’t have any problem in filling up
the documents. Now, what if i don't have any of these numbers? No problem since
it is not mandatory, when you would come across a form asking for a SSS number
mandatorily just write 00-0000000-0 and you're set to go to the next step.
2. Passing the SVAR
The second step is what they call SVAR,
Usually people are said to fail in this part, however luckily for me I passed
during my first take. What is in here though? First, you will be given a paper
with a list instructions about a test you are to undertake, usually it consist
from A-G sections and all sections require a great listening and comprehending
ability, so listen carefully, take down notes if you had to.So bring a ballpeen/pencil
with you. In addition to that, what you will be dealing in here is the
telephone so atip for you is to Speak or answer ALWAYS AFTER YOU HEAR A BEEP.
hehe and ow there is no take two in here.
For the first part which is Section A, you
will be given 9 lists of sentences you will be reading on the phone/telephone.
A tip for you is to read them slowly, just relax and in a normal way speak
loudly and don't speak like you are whispering, remember you are on the
telephone just speak like you are answering a call from your boyfriend or
girlfriend and don' try to intonnate the words if you can't. Lastly, know your
punctuation, if it is a comma then have a pause, if it is a question mark,
well i bet you know you what that is.
Example is:
Telephone: Please read sentence number one.
(Beep)
You: To know more about our products,
(pause) please log on to our website.
For section B, you are given a situation
wherein you will be hearing an agent and a costumer talking with each other. After
the agent helped the customer you will be asked a few questions about the
situation. Mostly asked are the name of the customer, his/her problem, dates
and typically Wh questions. Again take note if you can and don't worry it is a
multiple choice.
Section C, you are to hear a voice with
different clarity and accent (and are fast). Afterwards you are to say/repeat
the sentence you heard over the phone. Honestly I wasn't able to repeat two
sentences due to clarity and accent; i mean there was this British accent, fast
talking and not clear to hear speech over the phone which i was not able to
comprehend. Though there is nothing to worry you might still pass that
assessment like i did. hehe depending on your score though.
For section D you will be dealing from this
point on with grammar, starting from synonyms and antonyms. One hint is to
listen attentively weather the question is synonym or antonym of a word you are
asked to answer.
Section E, This part is where you are to determine
which part of the sentence is incorrect. Listen carefully since it wouldn’t be
repeated.
Example is: the goat are roaming at the
field.
a. the goat
b. roaming
c. at the
d. field
Here you need to press 1 on the telephone's
keypad since the correct answer is a.
Section F, this section is a scoring test
meaning you are to score an agent helping a costumer based on his/her answer or
how he/she handled the situation. Your answer would range from 5 being the
highest and 1 being the lowest.
And lastly Section G which is the most challenging
part of SVAR. In here you are to be given a situation like a scene on a
hospital, a car, scene on an airport or a busy market (basically this is what
they say in English as an imprint speech). You will be given 30 seconds to
think your answer and 45 seconds for the delivery of your speech. Hint: avoid
having a dead air; if you have a mental block out just say anything to occupy
the time. An example was the guy next to me which says that he got out of words
so what he say was,“an airport is where there are a lots of plane.(out of
words) it is where you can see planes going bzzbzzzzzzzzzbzzzz....” (And it
ended) silly isn’t it but that is how we survived, and believe me he passed. :D
Just don’t be serious, relax and take it
just like you are playing with the telephone.
3. Taking the Phone Simulation
In the phone simulation, you will be
playing as an agent on the computer (just like a virtual agent game eh, you
know the virtual SIMs or virtual bf/gf? That’s what is like). This would seem
like a challenging part and yes! It is challenging because you will be using
your hearing powers at the same time your typing or encoding skill. But first
you will be answering an online exam up to 25 items; first 20 are multiple choices
and the rest an audio test. In the audio test you will be hearing a clip and
you need to type what the audio is saying, the audio is time limited and common
words are addresses, names and schools.Mostly American details eh.
For the main part the phone simulation, you
will be guided first by a video on what to do so listen carefully specially on
how to use the software being discussed by the video because after the video is
presented you are to apply what you had watched. Common things you need to
remember are; what tab on the software
will you enter the name of the client, the credit card number, the order and
what tab will you search for information regarding a product. In here you
really need to listen carefully and type as fast as possible specially the name
and address. For me the address is the worst part especially if you are not
from the U.S. and/or is not familiar with the streets, city and region. I mean
the address input is not just a box
where you will type the whole address but is separated, like another box for
the address, another boxfor the city, street, country and zip ( God if only the
client would speak slowly and just two tabs neahahha).
Further information about this simulation
is that the simulated client will talk and afterwards you will be presented
with options you are to answer so please choose the best.
4. The behavioral and personal interview
This part is the most if not the worst
since you need to speak in English confidently and you will be asked with
questions related with each other to drop you technically so be sure what you
say are consistent. For the interview it is basically all based on your resume
so be sure you know what you had written in your resume.
Common interview questions are:
Tell me about yourself?
-of course only you and you know yourself.
Why SiTEL?
Why did you choose to be a call center
agent?
What a call center agent do?
Why quit your job? (If you have one)
What expertise do you have to be a call
center agent?
How long do you plan to stay with us? HINT:
(This is connected with your to plan to purse your career so at least give them
3 and above years and This hasn't have to be the case though)
What do you think is your salary? HINT: research
or ask anyone what is the salary of a call center agent at that company or just
give them a range beginning from minimum to at least 5 step higher like from
1000 pesos (approx. 222 dollars) to
15000 pesos (approx. 333 dollars).
What do you know about our schedule? (Well,
told them it is 24 hours hahahah)
Do you want to work in a shifting schedule,
graveyard, and holidays?
For teachers and other courses with Board exams and for graduates also
Did you take your examination as a ______?
Why not pursue your ______ (degree) career?
When do you plan to pursue your _____
(degree) carrier? HINT: try to say, you plan to continue it after 3 and above
years (this is not necessary though).
And the one thing that dropped me off of my
interview is:
If you are to be assigned at ____________
(name of place), are you willing to go there??
(this are just some of the interview questions
i got but depending on who would interview you, you might get some terrible
questions like tell me a situation where you were hardly stuck in life and how
you dealt with it? this is the same as hardest situation you have faced)
After the interview if you will be lucky enough
to pass it then it’s time also for you to know what account you will be
assigned.
Well unfortunately for me, we called it a
day. And that’s the end of my SiTEL adventure. wahahahha
But to guide you...
5. Job specific
- You will be introduced to the company
more like an orientation
6. Signing the contract and BOOM a signing bonus for you. tahahah..
...okay that’s all what i can share folks.
